According to an article in The Telegraph there are 14 teaspoons (per pint) of sugar in Coca Cola with a PH level of 2.5 while Tropicana juice has 15 teaspoons (per pint) of sugar with a PH level of 3.5. The article points out that many parents don’t realise that the high acid levels and sugar content in juices and smoothies are harmful to children’s teeth. Dr. Harley recommends that juices and smoothies are given to children once a week as a treat rather than every day. Recommended drinks by dentists to help keep children’s teeth healthy are water and milk.
