World’s Oldest Marathon Runner, 101, Runs Marathon Relay in Edinburgh

A great motivating story…

Fauja Singh is the world’s oldest marathon runner at 101 years old. He started running at the age of 89 and has since completed 7 marathons! On Sunday 27th May 2012, he completed the Marathon Relay in Edinburgh, making it his 8th marathon race. He has now announced that this race was his last marathon but still wants to compete in short 5km – 10km races. It’s a very inspirational story and shows that we shouldn’t give up challenging ourselves because of age.

Fauja Singh was quoted saying: ‘If there’s something you can’t change then why worry about it? Be grateful for everything you have, stay away from people who are negative, stay smiling and keep running.’

He believes the secret to a long healthy life is living stress free, being happy and staying postive.
