Go For A Walk
Walking is perhaps the best exercise that you can do, and is the most natural form of exercise. Walking is a great way to burn off some energy and keep slim.
Taking a brisk walk/hike around the local park can energise you and help you to soak up some vitamin D – which is known to help with weight loss.
A hike/walk doesn’t have to be intensive or last a whole day. 20-30 minutes a day is all you need to get some fresh air and light exposure which is essential for health.
Researchers have found that a year of walking 40 minutes a day, just 3 days a week, increased the size of the hippocampus (a major component of the human brain, playing an important role in the consolidation of information from short-term to long-term memory and spatial navigation) by 2% in a group of older sedentary adults. Spatial memory also improved.
Walking/hiking is not just something to do short term, but is an important part of your daily exercise routine. As well as for your long term health, reducing stress levels and keeping active.
