Exploding Beef with Ginger and Chili

Exploding Beef with Chili and Ginger is a very tasty Paleo recipe. It is higher in healthy fats, and lower in fattening carbohydrates; so you won’t find any added sugars or starchy carbs. Therefore, do not combine with potatoes, rice, noodles or bread. It’s best served with fresh salad or stir fried cabbage. For Paleo fans who eat cheese, feel free to add a handful of freshly grated cheddar.

This recipe is not only tasty and nutritious, but great for fat loss, and will leave you feeling full for longer.

Serves 2

Ingredients

To cook the meat:

  • 2 sirloin steaks – thinly sliced in strips * Cheaper cuts of beef work just as well
  • 8 slices of fresh ginger
  • 5 small cloves of garlic – Whole
  • Half an onion – chopped roughly
  • 1 small Thai red chilli’s – chopped
  • 1 red pepper – cut in strips
  • A handful of small cherry tomatoes – halved
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil

Seasonings

  • A dash of salt
  • A dash of ground black pepper

To taste

  • Salt
  • Ground black pepper
  • Some finely chopped coriander – about 2 large pinches
  • A handful of grated cheddar cheese (optional)

Method

1. Heat the olive oil in a wok or frying pan

2. Fry the ginger, garlic, & chili until it starts to smell fragrant – approx 1 min

3. Add the beef and stir fry until brown – approx 2 mins

4. Add a pinch of good quality sea salt, and pepper

5. Add the roughly chopped onions & red pepper until they start to soften – 2 -3 mins

6. Add a pinch of freshly chopped coriander

7. Add the handful of cherry tomatoes into the mix

8. Continue cooking the dish until it until it appears cooked. The beef should be soft, but the vegetables still a little crunchy

Serve straight away with a Lettuce, Tomato and Olive Salad or with stir fried cabbage with garlic

If you are okay with dairy, a handful of grated cheddar cheese on the beef adds to the flavour

    I’m just starting a paleo / caveman style diet and I must say this recipe sounds delicious ! How long do you stir fry the cabbage for ?

      Hi Caveman, thanks for your comment
      We will add a full recipe for stir paleo fried cabbage soon, but basically you need to do the following:
      1. Make sure the cabbage is chopped up and washed,
      2. Stir fry it with some garlic and chili for about 3 – 5 minutes. The cabbage should be soft, but with a crunch.
      3. Once cooked, I also recommend leaving it for a few minutes before serving. The cooling process enhances the flavour.
